# The Problem

> Why getting paid in crypto is still harder than it should be.

Modern crypto payment systems suffer from four fundamental problems.

## 1. Identity Exposure

On public blockchains, wallet addresses are permanent public identifiers. Anyone who interacts with you can trace your entire transaction history, analyze your balance, link all your payments together, and identify your income sources. This is a total loss of financial privacy for anyone who receives crypto payments.

## 2. Complexity Barrier

To receive crypto payments today, a user must understand wallets, seed phrases, gas fees, network selection (sending to the wrong network loses funds permanently), and token bridges. Most people give up before they receive their first payment. This barrier has prevented mass adoption for years.

## 3. Fragmented Infrastructure

Payments are split across multiple chains, wallets, bridges, and standards. This leads to failed transactions from wrong network selection, permanently lost funds from bridge errors, and confusion for both senders and receivers.

## 4. No Native Internet Payments

There is no standard way for APIs, software, and AI agents to accept payments per request automatically. Every existing solution requires subscriptions, API keys, account creation, or human interaction. As AI agents become common, this problem becomes critical — agents need to pay for services automatically, but the infrastructure doesn't exist.

## The Result

Getting paid in crypto today still feels harder than it should be. Conduit was built to fix that.
